Important information about Clarity Enhancement: There are a few methods used by the diamond industry to enhance diamond clarity. Two of the most widely used methods are laser drilling and fracture filling. In Laser Drilling, a tiny hole is drilled with a laser beam in order to remove carbon specs from the diamond. In Fracture Filling, cleavages and fractures that reach the surface of the stone are filled with a high R. I. material that helps disguise these inclusions. certified loose diamonds does NOT use ANY form of clarity enhancement. There are different types of flaws or inclusions that lower the diamond clarity. The most common ones are: Pimpoint: This type of inclusion is definitely the most common flaw. It consists of a small white dot on the surface. Carbons: Less common than the pimpoint, it consists of a small black dot on the surface. Feathers: Open inclusions (fractures) within the diamond. Small feathers are usually harmless and do not grow with age. Clouds: Blurry or hazy areas within the diamond made up of small crystals. Crystal Growth: Small crystalline development within the diamond.
